All exchange students should take out health insurance for the whole period they are going to stay abroad.

If you are an EU citizen, you are obliged to have an EHIC card.

If you are not an EU citizen, you should purchase health insurance prior to your arrival to Poland and it should be valid during the entire stay. Otherwise you should apply for public health insurance (Polish National Health Fund - NFZ) – it is only possible after arriving in Poland ( link - scroll down for English!)

All exchange students should get an extensive insurance plan when still in the home country and send it to the Incoming Officer before her/his mobility starts.

Every exchange student should have:

  • private health insurance plan (of student’s choice) covering at least out- and in-patient treatment, civil liability and repatriation for the whole mobility period (EU citizen - additionally EHIC card)
  • personal accident insurance.
