Good location providing easy access from all over Europe, and modern infrastructure, including numerous hotels and conference spaces, are of great importance. At a closer inspection of Katowice both those who like to spend their free time actively, as well as history, tradition, and music enthusiasts will find something of interest, and often ready-made ideas about the way of spending time in the city, especially known for its great events. In the Western part of Katowice, in one of the most beautiful districts of the city – Brynów, the main offices of the Academy of Silesia are located. Today Zabrze is perceived as the capital of post-industrial tourism, a rapidly developing center of medicine, innovative economy, science, culture, and sport. Zabrze is the indisputable center of medicine with numerous, well-known healthcare facilities such as: The Silesian Center for Heart Diseases, the Center for Women’s and Children’s Health, the Public Clinical Hospital, and the Specialist Hospital. Another trademark of Zabrze is its rich cultural offer as the city is filled with events of international renown such as: the Krzysztof Penderecki International Festival, the International Dance Festival, and the International Drawing Festival. The city is home to numerous cultural institutions such as: the House of Music and Dance, the Zabrze Philharmonic, and the New Theatre. Other locations on the cultural map of Zabrze include the City Museum, The City Culture Center, two modern multiplexes, as well as the oldest cinema in Upper Silesia, Roma. In the very heart of Zabrze, in a historical tenement house, where tradition meets modernity is where the Zbigniew Religa Faculty of Medical Sciences is located. This is an exceptional location that combines the historical character of the building with the newest achievements in the field of medicine, creating an inspiring environment for students and scientists. This faculty is not only a center of education but also a tribute to Professor Zbigniew Religa, one of the most outstanding Polish cardiac surgeons, who with his passion contributed to the development of medicine on a world level.
